VISITING SYKES MONKEY in JOZANI CHWAKA BAY NATIONAL PARK, ZANZIBAR

 

Jozani Chwaka Bay National Park it`s the only national park in Zanzibar Island with the size of 50 square kilometer, It was established as a conservation area in 1960s. Jozani forest is located in the central east regional of Zanzibar Island, it is a narrow neck of island between Chwaka Bay in the north and Uzi Bay to the south, which contains about 100 tree species.

When you visit this park by following the park`s network of nature trails you will find some amazing sky high trees, mangroves areas and also you should keep an eye for some of the forest’s residents such as red colobus monkey, bush pigs, blue monkey, tree hyraxes and Aders’s duiker, as well as more than 50 different species of butterflies and 40 species of birds like a species of Fischer’s turaco with unusual color wings. The forest is also rumored to be home to the elusive leopard, although it’s been several decades since there have been any official sightings.

Its normal to find two groups of habituated red colobus monkeys, which are no longer disturbed by the presence of humans, as a result they keep doing their daily activities with the little notice of the humans staring up from below, hence it’s a good place for photographs.

Tortoise in local name is called Kobe. Prison Island in another name is called Changuu Island, is the small island located in northwest of Stone Town, Zanzibar with 800 meter long and 230 meter wide. This island was used as a prison for rebels slaves in 1860 because it was surrounded by sea water then it was impossible for any rebels prisoner to escape and this island was used as a coral mine but now it`s` one of the tourist attraction in Zanzibar where by lot`s` of tourists around the world visit here to watch this amazing Tortoises which are found in this Island. Once your here you will get a chance to play with tortoise, carry them, feed them as well as seat on the giants tortoise while their walking.

Tortoise it`s kind of reptiles with hard shells which protect them with predator, they are capability to live any place in the world with different types of climate, they can grow up to 4.5 to 6 feet long and weight up to 200 to 500 kilogram according to different types of Tortoises species, they like to eat different things such as mollusks, plants, insect and fish, grasses, vegetables, snakes, frogs as well as algae. Also Tortoise can live from 10 to 150 years old. Its very interesting to see this animal who can live longer than human being here at Prison Island.

THE BEST SPICES MARKET in STONE TOWN, ZANZIBAR

Stone town is the old town of Zanzibar City which is also known as "Mji Mkongwe". It is located on western coast of Unguja, main island of Zanzibar. Because of the nature of island, they cultivate lots of different types of spices that`s why they have a large spices market in Stone Town which includes ginger, cardamom, clove, pepper, brown sugar, black pepper, white pepper, cinnamon, cumin, fennel, mustard, coriander and turmeric. Since all the spices are cultivated in Zanzibar Island and the price it is also cheap that`s why most of the tourist who visit Zanzibar likes to do spices shopping here.

VISITING VICTORIA FALLS on ZAMBEZI RIVER

Victoria Falls is the largest water fall in the world with the width of 1,708 meter, the local indigenous name of the fall is called "Mosi-oa-Tunya" which mean 'the smoke that thunders". The name Victoria Fall was named by Dr Livingstone after the British kingdom at the time of Queen Victoria. It is located at the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. Now it is the one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the world which brings lots of tourist attraction in Zambai and Africa as well, 

It is also provide habitat for lots of unique species of plants and animals. Its amazing experience visiting here and see this water falling with high pressure that the spray sent up by the plunging water rises so high up which can be seen form 45 kilometers away on Zambezi River, and also there is a very high population of crocodiles on the river which can be easily seen hence its not advisable to swim here. 

The best time to visit the Victoria Falls is from February to May after the region`s summer rain where you will be able to see the World largest sheet of falling water flowing at it`s greatest volume and worse time to visit is from October to November where by water level is low and the weather is very hot. It`s advisable to consider this season when your visit here in order to get a good view of Victoria Falls. 

THE LARGEST LAND ANIMAL in MIKUMI NATIONAL PARK, TANZANIA

Elephant are the largest land animal exist on the earth with incredible memory, in local language is called "Tembo". There are two types of elephant in the world which are African Elephant and Asian Elephant. African Elephant have large ears which looks like African continent while Asian Elephant have smaller ears also Both male and female African Elephant can have tusk while only male Asian Elephant can have tusk.

                         

The one you see on the photo are African Elephants which you can find them at Mikumi National Park in Tanzania, they are very huge and friendly too. They can grow up to 8 to 13 feet tall at the shoulder and can weight up to 2000 to 6000 kilogram, they like to eat vegetation such as grasses, fruits, leaves, root and fruits. It is a good experience to see this huge land animal exist on earth here at the park which look bigger than a safari car. Elephant can live up to 70 years in the wild. You should visit here

THE TALLEST ANIMAL in MIKUMI NATIONAL PARK, TANZANIA

 

Giraffe is the tallest animal on earth, in local language is called "Twiga". Mikumi National Park is the forth largest national park in Tanzania with varieties of wildlife sight, its is located between Uluguru Mountain and Lumango range and its only a few hours drive from Dar es Salaam. There are so many Giraffe in this park.

A giraffe`s neck can grow up to 6 feet long and legs are also grow up to 6 feet long with the weight up to 270 kilogram and they eat only plants such as leaves, seed, buds and fruits. Their spot are much like human fingerprints where by no two individual Giraffes have exactly the same pattern, which make them very unique. it is easy to see Giraffes here in the national park since they are very tall which will help you to start see them from very far, Giraffe can live up to 25 years in the wild. it is a exciting place to be. MASSAI STYLE OF GRILL MEAT in ARUSHA, TANZANIA

Massai is the one of the biggest tribe in East Africa which are located in Kenya and northern of Tanzania, Massai are very popular international because of their unique traditional and customs such as raising cattle like goat and cows, dressing fabrics and most of them likes red color which help them to scare off lion and they like to stay near many game park of African Great Lakes such as Lake Manyara.

Massai style of grill meat in Arusha it`s very unique and simple, they don't put any ingredients on the meat, they light a fire on the ground and hang the meat around the fire until it ripens. It`s taste very different but good since they eating without putting anything on top even salt hence you can imagine the taste, they believe adding salt on the meat it reduce appetite of eating so they don`t put salt in order to eat more meat. I tried to eat without salt but it didn`t work for me, I found it tasteless but for them it teste good. You should try, it`s healthy since eating to much salt may lead you to kidney disease, high blood pressure as well as heart failure that's why Massai are very strong and healthy.   

LION WITH CUBS in SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK, TANZANIA

Lion is the king of the jungle, in local language is called "Simba". Here in Serengeti National Park in Tanzania you can experience to see Lions with Cubs enjoying the nature. Serengeti National Park is the one of the famous park in Africa which is located in northern of Tanzania, with the size of 15,000 square kilometers. It`s famous known for it massive annual migration of animals like wildebeest accompanied with zebra and smaller group of impala looking for new pasture by moving from one area to another hence there are so many Lion in this park because of higher availability of food. 

                         

Lion can grow up to between 9 to 10 feet long (3meter) from the head to tail with the tail being about 2 to 3 feet long and their weight between 150 to 250 kilogram. They like to hunt large animals such as zebras, antelopes, hogs, hippos, rhinos and wildebeest, since they are not scared of any animal in the National Park so they can hunt even at middle of the night were most of the animals are sleeping. Its amazing experience to visit this park as you can enjoy to see the king of the jungle with cubs and Serengeti wildebeest migration. You should try this while your in Tanzania. you will love it.

Lion walking or you can say walking with Lion is the one of the biggest adventure you can experience in Oudtshoom in South Africa, by the way its safe you don't have to worry much since those Lion are well trained and they get used to see tourist around although you need to follow the rules to enjoy scary adventure.

If you think Lion can`t climb tree then your total wrong, Lion do climb tree as you can see on the photo. but long trees with no branches its difficult for Lions to climb since their very large and heavy, most of Lion climb tree with lower branches. Lion like to climb tree when they want to escape the sweltering heat on the ground level, avoiding wet ground as well as when they want to get a nice view of surrounding of the national park. But Leopard can climbs any trees weather there is low branches or no branches on the tree. when you visit South Africa don`t miss visiting this place.

WILD HORSE in NGORONGORO CRATER NATIONAL PARK, TANZANIA

Zebra in local language is called "Pundamilia". It`s one of the most unique animal in the national park because of their black and white stripes. some people call them wild horse as they can run faster at the speed of 35 miles per hour. Is the one of the animal which you can easily see at Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania because of uniqueness of their colors.

Zebra likes to eat glass, leaves and twigs as they can travel up to 1,800 miles in search of food and their stripes are very unique like human fingerprints hence its impossible to find different Zebra with the same stipes. New born Zebra can stand after six minutes. You can see many zebra here in Ngorongoro Crater and they are very friendly so you will enjoy taking picture with them.

THE LARGEST BIRD in NGORONGORO CRATER, TANZANIA

Ostrich is the largest bird living on earth, in local language is called "Mbuni". Ngorongoro Crater is the world largest intact volcano caldera which located in northern of Tanzania. It has the best wildlife view in Africa, you can see all the big five game animals here such as Lion, Elephant, Rhino, Buffalo and Leopard as well as other animals in large numbers. Some people call The crater as a 8th National Wonder of the World. 

Ostrich is the largest bird in the world which can grow up to 9 feet tall and can weight up to 140 kilogram. Here you can easily see the tallest bird in the world in Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania. They eat both vegetables and meat such as root, seed, leaves, snakes and lizard. They lay eggs which are very big 15 centimeter in diameter with 1.2 kilogram. One of the characteristics of bird is to fly but Ostrich cant fly because their flat breastbones lack the keel portion that anchors the strong pectoral muscles which required for flight and their small wings cant lift their heavy body from the ground. It is excited experience to see this big bird in the park.

 

SWIMMING POOL at MIKADI BEACH CAMP in DAR ES SALAAM, TANZANIA

Mikadi Beach Camp is located at the coast of Dar es salaam City in Tanzania, the best beach camp to be. It is in Kigamboni district near the beach as u can see, it is at the other side of the city center of Dar es Salaam, to get here you can using ferry which will take you ten minutes to cross from the city center.

The swimming pool here it is very warm and clean as well as the ocean with white sand hence its very comfortable for beach walk or jogging if you like since some of the people prefer swimming pool over ocean because of avoiding salt water then this is the right place to be. Also you can stay in the wooden houses here it is called "banda" then you can have a clear view of the ocean.
